OUTDOOR ADVENTURE WITH CFC – Tons of Snow. Mountain Peaks. Exploration Spirit.

What do you do if you want to explain the functionality of an outdoor smart watch in an exciting way? Try it out in the field!

This is exactly what we suggested to our client. We feel so lucky because CASIO is just such a cool crew of professionals who understood and liked the idea right away. Green light for us to start with the detailed planning and execution of our concept ‘The Casio Winter Experience Day’. We planned an excursion to the mountains with media and influencers to test the latest Pro Trek Smart Watch in the field. All our guests were equipped with a WSD-F30, got a short explanation of the main functions and then received a log book with tasks to fulfill during our outdoor day on snowshoes high up in the mountains – accompanied by professional mountain guides for safety and additional knowledge transfer.

 The Early Bird catches the Worm

Quite early in the morning, we headed off from Munich to the winter wonderland of the alps. The Berchtesgadener Land was our destination.

In Bad Reichenhall, at the foot of the mountain, we were welcomed by our mountain guides who invited us to enter the fabulous retro gondola of the Predigtstuhlbahn, ‘La grande Dame of the Alps’ is the oldest original cable railway of the world, launched in 1928. As we learned, it is privately owned. A couple of years ago, two gentlemen bought it to save it from being closed which would have made quite a negative impact on the whole region, a tourist magnet.

Riding up the mountains, a spectacular view unveiled itself to us. We looked down on Bad Reichenhall, a little further north-east the city of Salzburg. The ‘Wilder Kaiser’, the ‘Watzmann’ & the Dachsteingebirge – the almost 360 degree view on the mountains all around us was absolutely breathtaking. So, the spirit of our group was already high before we even started with our sportive activity.

Arrived up top of the Predigtstuhl at 1614 m height, another guide joined us and while having a small breakfast, we were introduced in the details of our tour and informed how to behave in the heavy snow mountain landscape. Everyone was equipped with an avalanche beeper to underline the importance of respecting certain mountain rules, especially in a heavily snowcapped mountain landscape. Safety is important and a lot of accidents can be avoided by not going for unnecessary risks.

Then, finally fully equipped with snowshoes, avalanche beeper, backpack, warm outdoor clothes and of course the WSD-F30 smart watch … we stepped out into the snow. A bright and sunny day ahead of us. What a magical place!

 

 

The next two hours we spent walking through deep snow, untouched landscape but very carefully selected tracks by the guides to avoid snowdrifts which can be dangerous if you do not recognize them. Like a caravan in between our mountain guides we walked up the mountains. Big fun! At the same time, some of the special tasks had to be solved in using the functions of the outdoor smart watch.

Snowshoe-hikes are exhausting. So we were all ready for some great Bavarian food at the Schlegelmudel alm on our way.

 

After some hot drinks, good laughs and interesting conversations we felt strengthened for our way back. Nobody knew until then that we had planned another surprise activity. Our guides led us to the avalanche training park, where we all got an avalanche training. At first we learned about avalanche awareness, rules about how to behave under shock, how to use beeper and poles to locate buried people. Hopefully we never will be in the situation – snow is heavy – survival chances are the highest if you are found within 10 minutes!

 

 

One hour of team work exercises later in an avalanche training park we headed back to the Predigtstuhl Restaurant to have desert. Impossible to leave without a famous ‘Kaiserschmarrn’!

A day full of winter magic, sportive activitiy and great outdoor fun! Filled with good vibes we left this beautiful area, heading back to Munich – with a whole bunch of new outdoor smart watch experts. Thank you Casio ProTrek!
